The TOPO-GUIDE of the Haute-Savoie, what is a TOPO-GUIDE?

A TOPO-GUIDE is a handy pocket sized book. It contains all the information you need: a description of the route with extracts from the relevant Institut Geographique National (IGN), 1/50 000 maps with a plan of the route, description of the path, details of the available accommodation, residences (gite d'etape), shopping facilities, transport, warning of any particular difficulties which may be encountered, safety precautions, etc.

A TOPO-GUIDE is a collection of information on the patrimony of the region; what to see, what to visit, which flora or fauna to observe? On the ground it is a useful tool adding information on markings of the paths.

There are 200 titles in this series divided into 2 collections of TOPO-GUIDES

. THE TOPO-GUIDES GR and GR, were conceived for those wishing to walk for several days with a rucksack on their backs. They allow for good preparation of the route: division of stages, elevations, provisioning, booking accommodation, etc

. THE TOPO-GUIDES PR: describe the routes in stretches of 2 to 6 hours walking, and are more often marked in yellow. They form a collection of 15 to 50 walks from novice level to those for more experienced walkers. They cover mostly a department, a Nature Reserve or a country. They can also cover the green districts of a city
